The Senator Theater Open in 1939, was constructed by the E. Eyring for Durkee Enterprises and designed by John Jacob Zink for a total 250,000 dollars. The Theater's opening attraction was Stanley and Livingstone Staring Spencer Tracy and Nancy Kelly.
Time and time again the theater has helped raise millions for non profitable charities. Also the theater had been the world premier host of many movies and has been a film location for films like Avalon and 12 monkeys for example.
Although the theater was a success it began to struggle in 2007, and in 2010 it fell through in to the hands of the city. The city close the theater in July 2010. The Senator didn't stay closed long as it was reopened later that year on October 15th for the premier of the movie "Red" Staring Bruce Willis. Senator would continue to operate until April 26th 2012, the last movie to premier at Senator was the hunger games. After the premier, the Senator would close for renovations.
